Welcome back football fanatics. Again I apologize for my avid readers that I have not been as on it with the past couple of weeks.
Apparently, adulting requires work and a side trip to Nebraska to visit family.
But that does not mean my opinions of football have gone away. In fact if you ever want to see my candid thoughts, check out my Instagram @girlstalkfootball2.
Now let’s talk about what happened during Week 4 and TNF for Week 5.
Well, my boys did not disappoint. Well, CMC did not disappoint. I’m not quite sure what is going on with the secondary and why we allow any points in the Red Zone. We had the #1 Red Zone defense in the league last year. I feel as the #1 Defense overall in the league coming into this season, there should be even less points allowed by any team.
Especially Arizona.
Give some credit to Josh Dobbs, the guy is a solid bridge QB. I mean he’s a rocket scientist after all. So I guess when some of my friends act like football is rocket science to them, I guess it kind of is.
Okay but really it’s not. In my opinion.
I hope the next time SF meets AZ in Phoenix there are no points allowed. Whether Dobbs or Murray is in the QB position. And especially with Dallas as the next matchup for Week 5, Wilks needs to get the secondary together so we can shut down Dak and his offensive weapons.
The Lions and the Packers game did not disappoint. The outcome did not surprise me at all. While I think in the long run Jared Goff will eventually flop and not make it further than first round playoffs at best, the fact that he’s been in the league long enough that I expect him to do better than Jordan Love.
At least Jordan did not play as horrendous as his predecessors did last season against Detroit. I mean when was there EVER a last time Aaron Rodgers threw 2 Red Zone interceptions?
Of the NFC North I expect the next matchup between these two division rivals to be just as exciting, especially because it will be at Lambo field.
And now comes the time of the season where the NFL goes international! Honestly, the next time the Niners play internationally, I’m definitely going to that game. But apparently the Jaguars hold the monopoly on international play.
I was expecting a little more from Atlanta especially because many analysts were trying to hype them up since they were undefeated for A WHOLE 2 WEEKS!!
*gasp*
Please… Remember what I said about the media hyping things up in football they really shouldn’t? The Falcons and Desmond Ridder definitely are one of those things.
Again, as much as Trevor Lawrence reminds me of the male version of my ex-boyfriend’s sister, he’s a good player. The Jags have a great coach and they had the better team between the two in this game.
Again I was wishing that Atlanta could utilize their running game to open up their passing, you can see the youth and inexperience of Ridder cost the game. But he’s young and has a promising future, too early to hand out judgements at this point.
Ugh the Miami Dolphins.
*faceplam*
How do you set a record and blow out Denver in Week 3 and then in turn get blown out the next week by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills!? Granted I know they played in Buffalo, but C’mon man! That’s just as bipolar as the weather in Florida during the summer.
My gosh, I will never visit that state in the months of July and August again. Clear in the morning, sudden thunderstorms and down pours, cyclones and then clear at night. Nope. Not for me.
I will say this was a great game for Josh Allen. It showed that he could in fact put into practice the changes he needed to make to amend for his horrendous end to last season and a very rocky start at the beginning of this season.
Miami definitely needs to figure out their secondary defensive issues. And for the love of all that is holy, wrap up on your tackles! Yes, Stefon Diggs is a baller, but Miami are enough of a contender to know better to not EVER let a guy like that slip tackles.
I expected the Vikings to win. Again, this comes down to Kirk Cousins just having more game experience than Bryce Young. Bryce still needs to learn how to preserve his body. This is not college. The NFL is brutal. There is a reason only one game is played per week and short weeks are very hard on teams.
What did I say at the beginning of this season? It is a marathon, not a sprint. Hopefully his coaching staff will work to protect him and not put him in those situations and he is smart enough to realize that he needs to prolong his career in the NFL.
And the biggest anticipated “Flop Match Up” between Denver and Chicago didn’t suck as bad as anticipated. Well, maybe for Justin Fields and Chicago. Again, there wasn’t much greatness I anticipated from this game. And I’ll be honest, I don’t know that I could have predicted a winner. This is just one of these matchups where you legit flip a coin.
I wasn’t expecting the Browns to get blown out by the Ravens. I haven’t been impressed with Baltimore’s defense in the past few years. In actuality I think the Browns have a better defense and should have held the Ravens to a smaller score. But any day that Deshaun Watson’s team loses is a good day.
Little C.J. Stroud is making some headlines. All the way from Rancho Cucamonga, California! 20 minutes from where I grew up. I’m excited for this guy. It will be interesting to see what his future holds. I’m still not going to hype him up like the rest of the media has been. But he definitely has a bright future if he continues to grow positively and not get injured. Especially when his team beats a Steelers team with a very good defense.
I was really pulling for the Colts against the Rams. Let’s be honest, I will always pull for any team that is going against a division rival of the 49ers. But the Rams are getting to be a little sneaky with Puka Nacua and once Cooper Kupp comes back, the NFC West might have some contention yet again for the top spots.
Not much I have to say about the Saints losing to the Bucs. New Orleans is just in a rebuilding year, with a transplant QB who is now fighting a throwing arm injury. So it just is going to be a struggle for them. That also by no means implies that Faker Mayfield had a dominant performance.
Besides hoping the Rams would lose to Indianapolis, I was equally really praying that somehow the Washington Commanders would squeak out a victory against the Eagles. Just to make it a little more solidified of the undefeated teams in the NFL.
In case you lost track… It is just San Francisco and Philadelphia out of the entire league with undefeated records after Week 4.
But alas, River Ron was not able to get his defense in the position to hold down Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.
I mean, do I have to even say it?
JOE…FOOL…
Like seriously, you’re telling me a back up or bridge QB at this point would do worse than what is going on with Cinnicanti at this time? Burrow just looks so uncomfortable. I was shocked they even cleared him to play and start the season considering his injury during pre season camp was severe.
Like it’s fine, he’s a great QB and you can pay him. But he is going to cost you more money in the long run if he under performs or gets more seriously injured.
*sigh*
I’m stoked for the Chargers for getting another win. Mostly because I really needed Justin Herbert to solidify my fantasy football win for the week, considering my opponent had Josh Allen. It’s a bummer Jimmy G is still out. But sadly isn’t this all what we expect? Great things and then…. Injured.
It will be interesting to see what his status will be, come Week 5.
Oh Bill Belichick, what have you become? Oh that’s right, not much without Tom Brady. Don’t get me wrong, let’s not take away the championships that his guy has been able to coordinate, but there hasn’t been much since Brady left.
Yes the Cowboys are a good defensive team, and New England’s defense hung in there. But they are not responsible for the mistakes that the offense created. Honestly, I would have thought Mac Jones would have been a good QB for Belichick to groom into a contending quarterback.
Clearly I was wrong about the supposed chemistry they could have or possibly Mac has peaked at his talents.
Again, I will say this…BENCH ZACK WILSON! There is no amount of half effort looking like he is turning his season around. This was the game for him to prove that he could carry his team. And he epically failed again.
I know Saleh is trying to do the “PC” thing and show support with management’s decision to keep Wilson as their starter, but it is time to wave the white flag. There are so many other quarterbacks waiting in the wings who could do so much better with the talent that the Jets have.
And for the love of all that is holy in the sport of football: STOP TALKING ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFT! Until she and her dang fans can understand the game, I don’t want to hear about her or see her face anymore!
And last but not least Seahawks vs Giants. I mean, it’s just not a good year for the Giants. At this juncture I feel it is going to be a fight between them and Chicago with the next year top pick.
As for Seattle, Geno better get better after the bye. My fantasy depends on it.
Looking toward Week 5, all eyes will be on SNF for the showdown between Dallas and San Francisco.
I’m already stressed. I have already told my sister she cannot walk her dog 50x around the block. Old rivalry and so much pride at stake.
Let’s go Niners!
