Apologies for the few who have been keeping up with my posts. Last weekend was quite the event. A whole weekend of flag football and high school teenagers. Definitely more exhausting than watching the most uneventful game between the LA Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.
So before I fall behind before tonight’s match-up between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. Let’s recap Week 3.
San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants
While I am happy with the win over the New York Giants, I would have preferred a better performance by my Niners. Also, I still say the score should have been 32-12. Nick Bosa deserves credit for the sack AND safety in the 2nd quarter.
Again, this is the second week that the Niners secondary needs to be better. Offenses are learning to deal with the speed of the front four, so you know that long bomb plays are not going to happen, so learn to tighten up your defense for the short routes.
Purdy struggled a little bit with his choice of passes in this game, but it’s good that he is getting reps. I’d rather him learn with a cushion of having a great defense, than being in a hot seat like Justin Fields.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens
I was not expecting the Colts to come out on top of the Ravens. But then again, it doesn’t surprise me with the turnovers by Lemar Jackson. That guy is cursed or just has peaked and will never not have a season where he does some dumb stuff with the football.
Tennessee Titans vs. Cleveland Browns
Let’s chalk the Titans season up to a rebuild year. So disappointing, especially with a guy like Derrick Henry. They have weapons to relieve even his running workload, but it seems they lack a QB that can distribute.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions
Well it seems Desmond Ridder is not perfect. Clearly he had a decent start for a season, but let’s be honest that streak was bound to snap considering the competition they had yet to face.
I really don’t know why so many people get all hype over Week 2 undefeated records. But here we are.
Detroit seems to be no joke this year for the NFC North. I can’t wait to see the matchup between the Packers and the Lions on TNF. I still won’t hold my breath, I don’t expect Jared Goff to follow through even if they did make the playoffs.
New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers
Speaking of the Green Bay Packers, interesting to see everyone with the hype around Jordan Love. I feel that 90% of people were expecting him to be such a let down after Rodgers that they now think he’s the most amazing thing since sliced cheese.
And Green Bay are the biggest cheeseheads in the league.
Again, I’m waiting to see how his Cinderella story plays out. He is still a newbie even with his tutelage under Rodgers. I expect eventually the clock will strike 12 and then everyone will say “I told you so.”
Totally unfair for the guy. So really in the long run it will be interesting to see what Jordan makes of pretty much a media fiasco.
In the match up against the Saints, we definitely see great promising things especially in a hostile environment. But the Saints glory days are over. And even if Derek Carr was healthy, I don’t have a ton of faith in him even with their good defense to match up with the rest of the NFC.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Okay, so a little thing about my feelings on Trevor Lawrence. Since I saw him play in that game against Tua in Levi stadium his last year at Clemson, he has always reminded me of a more masculine version of my ex-boyfriend’s sister. So I’ll be honest I can’t take him seriously.
He is a talented QB, but I saw his flash as one of those that would only spark in college and maybe turn out to be average in the NFL. So personally I am happy that a rookie out of Rancho Cucamonga, stamped a definitive win on Trevor’s Jaguars.
C.J. Stroud, seemed to be on the uptake around the league this week. Sadly if they lose this weekend, everyone will say “oh told you the rookie is so green.” The sports world is so rollercoaster with their feelings towards the players.
Personally it’s one of the things that annoys me the most about sports talk.
I hope C.J. Can make a good run this season for Houston. Their defense has to equally help them out.
Denver Broncos vs. Miami Dolphins
Okay… did ANYONE predict Russell Wilson and Sean Payton getting their butts kicked, stomped and handed to them by Tua and Mike McDaniel? I mean let’s be real, we all knew Miami was going to win.
But… DAAAANNNNNNGGGG!
70? Yeah definitely a franchise record and tied with LA for the second highest team score in history. Miami is definitely the juggernaut of the AFC.
Honestly, the big talk now is who is going to continue being a flop between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson in Week 4. My personal opinion, Russ should have retired in Seattle.
LA Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Now that I have been a full time resident of San Diego for 3 years, I have adopted the Chargers as a hometown team to root for when they are not playing against the Niners.
Yes I know they do not exist in San Diego anymore, but the Raiders have not been in LA for decades, and half of LA still wears that ugly black and silver like the good die hard they are. So, the Chargers will forever be San Diego to me.
And as a local of SD, I am stoked they pulled out a hard fought win against Minnesota. I am a little disappointed their defense has not been as stellar as it was last year even with Joey Bosa back in full.
I’m hoping they continue to do well and win more games so I don’t seem so awkward only cheering for a Northern California team in San Diego.
New England Patriots vs. New York Jets
I’m gonna say it again. Patriots need a new QB and I am so glad the Niners did not take Mac Jones in the draft. Honestly this game between the Jets and the Pats, was a battle of which team had the worst QB.
I am on board with most others in the league. The Jets need a new QB. Literally anyone else but Zack Wilson. He’s the ultimate C’Mon Man.
Buffalo Bills vs. Washington Commanders
As far as the Bills vs Commanders, this went as about expected. Now that Josh Allen has had a couple ego boosting games to get his groove back, it will be interesting to see him matchup against a real challenge team.
Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Since I am on a bye this week for fantasy, I would have definitely wished that the Seahawks would have lost. Or at least Geno plays well enough to get me fantasy points but just not win. There’s not much again to say about this game. The team that I feel has the better overall build is Seattle and they clearly came out with the “W”.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys
Now as I just said, I am never stoked when another team in my division wins. But I am so happy Dallas and it’s “#1 Defense” lost to the Arizona Cardinals. I’m not saying that losing Diggs to a season ending injury isn’t a big deal.
But C’Mon Man! Your elite defense with all the depth they have, lost to Arizona and it’s back up QB?!
Just saying…
Chicago Bears vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Oh Da Bears… Poor Justin Fields. I do believe that there is an element of coaching, however, Justin Fields came from a great program at Ohio State. So like some analysts have pointed out, at some point it is not all on the coaches. Again it will be interesting to see how he performs against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders
I know I’m being spiteful but I am glad the Steelers beat the Raiders. I just don’t like seeing Jimmy G in black and silver, and I will continue that mantra till he retires. I do hope he is not out for season injury again, he is so prone to being out for long periods which is why he was such a liability in San Francisco.
And just so we’re clear, just because he and his family are Italian, I refute his brother’s statements that San Francisco’s pizza is sub par compared to Vegas. Pizza is not technically an actual Italian dish. It’s an American Italian thing.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
See? Ya’ll wanted to ride the Faker Mayfield wagon and it finally broke against the Philadelphia Eagles. I told you he was not making a comeback. Not against legit teams.
LA Rams vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Finally Joe Fool won a game. Still looks rusty and washed up despite his nice new contract. I’m sad Puka Nacua is battling injury, but definitely not sad that the Rams lost.
I’m hoping the Niners make a statement against a division rival in Week 4. Tonight on TNF catch the Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions.
